Merry Xmas and Ski Trail Conditions

23 Dec 2023 by Dale Fanney

Let’s start with the Good News! We all have a lot to be Thankful for- there is a lot of Love and Support out there- so Merry Xmas and Smile😁
Our Ski Teams managed to have 15 practices on Snow since Thanksgiving which is remarkable! We are expanding our Team experience to include Madison which is happening slowly but surely.

Now the weather: it didn’t really rain here or Lapham yesterday- Don and I and the Bakkens skied about 3 hours yesterday at Lapham and it was pretty nice. Over Xmas- the forecast looks terrible with rain and warm Temps- but you never know—-
Lapham— will be pretty good today and maybe early tomorrow morning- expect a recovery later next week. I think Lapham may be the best place to ski New Year’s Weekend
CXC- it’s soft but okay- will not be groomed again until after the rain- they need more snow—- don’t expect to have decent training there next week. Go to Lapham!!!
Ariens Nordic Center in Brillion- they had a race there today- a perfect 1.6k loop— they will survive the rain and it is an option for New Year’s weekend. They have a beautiful Chalet there.
Birkie Trailhead in Cable- has been excellent and we have a race there Wednesday and Thursday next week— however the rain forecast is terrible- so they closed the 4k trail now to preserve it. We are watching things closely there- don’t expect to ski there on Tuesday.
Duluth- the Spirit Mountain Nordic Center trails are really nice /2.5k.
ABR- will not survive past today and will be closed – Wolverine is bad. There is no natural snow anywhere within a thousand miles that I know of!!!
Lodi- beautiful green trails and lights- maybe some snow next week—
