Ski Season / Early Snow Phase begins

25 Nov 2023 by Dale Fanney

Phase One of the ski season is already over with rollerskiing and dryland exercises coming to an end. We hope to get on snow soon! We might get some light snows and golf course skiing this week and snow- making has begun in earnest! We have begun our merger with Madison and have had 2 rollerski practices – the last one was a high intensity classical sprint workout today. We hope to practice and race together Up North this weekend.
As you know- there is no snow up North and ABR has only a little. If they get 7-8” of snow by Monday evening- we will go to ABR, otherwise- the Birkie will have 2k high quality loop with tracks ready for us by Friday 12/01. We will know our plans by Tuesday. Either way- getting on snow is a high priority. We want to have 2 races and a very high on snow training volume in December. Everyone should be making plans to ski a lot during XMAS vacation
Other News: Youth Skiing starts Monday 12/18.
The solar lights and golf course trail is set – up and ready to go.
The Wreath Sale is done and was moderately successful and should help reduce the cost of our State Meet.
We ( the HS) hopes to start practicing with Madison at 5:45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Saturdays.
